UK—UKRAINE 100 YEAR PARTNERSHIP

UK & UKRAINE 100 YEAR PARTNERSHIP - BRAND IDENTITY

Client: UK Government, Prime Minister’s Office

To commemorate the landmark signing of the UK–Ukraine 100 Year Partnership, I was commissioned to design the official brand identity for this historic initiative, unveiled during the Prime Minister’s diplomatic visit to Kyiv in 2025.

Inspired by the symbolism of unity and shared resilience, the visual identity takes cues from the natural emblems of all nations—the rose for the UK, thistle for Scotland, daffodil for Wales, flax for Northern Ireland and the sunflower for Ukraine. These national flowers were carefully integrated into a cohesive logo design, echoing the approach seen in floral bouquet's.

The resulting identity strikes a balance between solemnity and optimism, honouring the gravity of ongoing conflict while projecting hope for the century-long alliance being forged. The design was deployed across official government materials, press releases, humanitarian aid initiatives, and cultural exchange programmes.

This project required close collaboration with governmental stakeholders and involved creating a versatile identity system suitable for both diplomatic and public-facing contexts, with applications ranging from digital communications, cultural events to educational campaigns linking schools across both nations.

PANOPTICITY:

The diverse scope and variety of the partnership meant I needed an identity that could work in any environment, something that would look natural in a village fête, and a financial policy.
TIMELESSNESS:

The long-term nature of partnership meant I needed an identity that would continue to work into the future. As relevant now as it would be in 100 years time.
CULTURE:
I wanted to present the UK & Ukraine as equal partners and create a visual identity that celebrated and respected the cultures of all involved nations.
